Ellen has been active in the schools since her children attended Underwood where she was a parent volunteer as well as member of the School Council and Co-President of the PTO. Ellen taught as a Class Size and Special Education aide at Franklin and Underwood elementary schools. She is trained in the Responsive Classroom approach.
At Bigelow, Ellen is a member of the School Council and former Vice-President of the PTO. She is piloting the One School One Book project at Bigelow in which all students, staff and families will read a book that focuses on a theme from Bigelow’s Core Values.
At Newton North, Ellen was elected to the School Council. She is working with Council members, administrators, and staff to help develop and pilot a mentor program to help families with no experience with the post-secondary planning process. She and Nate are co-chairing Newton North’s NewtonServes project: Operation Bold Paint.
Ellen graduated from Vassar College with an A.B. in English. She worked as an assistant editor at Little Brown in New York before attending Boston University School of Law. She was an attorney at Taylor, Anderson and Travers in Boston for 4 years specializing in family law. She later worked as the Director of Human Resources at the Share Group until she stopped working to be at home with her children.
Ellen and Nate live in Newton Corner. Their two children attended Newton schools.
